Cartridge filters
Pentair’s cartridge filters proven design uses special filter elements to strip particles from pool water with great effectiveness. Water flows very efficiently through Pentair’s, Clean and Clear Plus and System 3 mod media filters allowing the use of smaller pumps or lower pump speeds to minimize energy use. And when consumers rinse cartridges rather than backwash, they can significantly reduce water use, too.

D.E. filters
Diatomaceous earth, or D.E. for short, is a natural substance that traps dirt and debris as small as five microns (1/10 the width of a human hair). That means body oils, suntan lotions, pollens, dust and even some bacteria are caught in a D.E. filter, leaving behind sparkling clear, healthier water. Pentair’s maximized the filtration area, which means longer periods between cleanings, and their D.E. filters require the least amount of pumping power to achieve a needed flow rate, lowering your utility costs. Water flows very efficiently through Quad D.E. and System:3 Mod D.E. filters allowing the use of smaller pumps or lower pump speeds to minimize energy use. And when consumers rinse cartridges rather than backwash, they can significantly reduce water use, too.

Sand filters
Sand filters are one of the most popular ways to filter water. They are simple, effective, and require very little attention. Pool water is routed through a sand-filled pressure vessel. Over time, dirt accumulates in the spaces between the sand particles causing the pressure in the vessel to rise as water finds it harder to pass through. This signals you to “backwash” the filter. Simply reverse the water flow and “knock out” the dirt.
